Started to Snorkel around Bali from Sanur, Target was to Sabah but end up in Ketewel area11th March 2007
There were lots of people at beech as it was the Sunday, Sunday many local families take their opportunity from daily hassle to have some quality time at the beech. This shows there love for the ocean. I hope similar way they show their interest in preserving and protecting the environment of Bali especially ocean as the ocean is the only few natural resources they have in the island
Our Target is to Pantai Saba.... and could reach there as the logistics, documentation was not easy to carry with especially against the currant. Wind was also blowing from north waves was also fairly big. Our lunch break was Padang Galak. Reefs around Sanur was as usual nothing new! From Padan Galak towards Ketawel was a easy swim but the exit was pretty difficult with all the logistic and flag. Gochi's experience was very limited to do wave exits infect never had more than Tulamben wrack. Quality of the water and plastic in the area we swim was astonishing. We did not expect to see this much. As the result of man made pollution the amount of jelly fish was disturbing. At the beginning Gochi was playing with it once it touched his face and the pain it caused he did drop few tears and went along, Because of the abrasions the visibility was pretty bad however the amount of reef fish was alright, lots of lobate coral, table coral not many soft coral species was seen around. Beach condition was also worrying you could see many trees fallen cause of the abrasions. We finish first day near the river and many local people were taking bath including children playing around. They were very surprised to see us especially a kid carrying a flag passing through the waves and beaching. hardest part was to explain those people over and over again repeatedly what we were doing and where we were from and the length of the trip. Local people help us to find a place to have the nap for the night, we end up in the Banjar. Youths and people from surrounding area were very busy through the night preparing the Effigy (ogoh-ogoh) the new year. They were very kind to help us with some food and explain us the local tradition .
